Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday with us!

I have many childhood memories of books and reading and being read to. I know we all have moments that stick with us related to books and reading.  I tried to pass this on and create similar memories for my children, too. Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite children’s authors. I love the rhyming flow of the words, the endearing characters and memorable stories. When reading with my own children, I even loved the challenge of such books as “There’s a Wocket in my Pocket”, “Fox in Socks”, and “The Butter Battle Book”. My daughter’s favorite book was “There’s a Wocket in my Pocket”, so I got very good at reading the tongue twisters night character-Cat-in-the-Hat.pngafter night.

A fun tradition a friend of mine started was reading “The Birthday Book” by Dr. Seuss every year on her children’s birthdays. They came to treasure that time and the book that went along with it. As my children got older and started school, I used to visit their elementary classrooms and share a Dr. Seuss book, like “The Cat in the Hat”, with their classrooms and friends. Now, I have the pleasure of sharing my love of Dr. Seuss and reading with your children.

Dr. Seuss is one of the most iconic children’s authors of all time.  Whether you’ve read them all or just a few, you know the stories. Who hasn’t heard of The Cat in the Hat, The Grinch or Horton the Elephant? All are childhood favorites for children, their parents, and even their grandparents and the library and school want to celebrate those memories and connections. Theodore Geisel, or Dr. Seuss, has a birthday and the library and the school want to remember him and commemorate those connections while also introducing him to new readers and making some new ones! Friday, March 5, the library will be closed so that we can safely have a Dr. Seuss birthday party! Families can sign up for 30 minute time slots from 12 to 4:30 p.m., also Saturday morning, March 6 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. to come in to the library and do a Dr. Seuss themed mini golf course!!! There will be a guessing game for prizes and an opportunity for a fun picture.  Also Children will leave with a free book from the school and a make and take bag of Dr. Seuss snacks and crafts. Come enjoy a safe party for Dr. Seuss and reading at the library!
